Youthlinc is undertaking a capital campaign for its own building. You know of my 20-year involvement, founding the organization and working my tail off for its impactful growth.

But you may not know of my daughter Sara’s role in the organization’s success. You may have heard that she was a big part of the inspiration behind the Youthlinc idea of blending local & international service: a local service minded teenager traveling with me to Kenya for her high school graduation present.

What you don’t know is that for 20 years – starting as an accounting major at Westminster College in Utah and continuing throughout her CPA career in California – Sara schooled me, the current Executive Director, staff members and several office managers in best business practices for financial management.

Sara’s continuous meticulous oversight of Youthlinc’s ever burgeoning books (nearly 2 million in and out of the organization today) is the reason behind our firm financial footing. And for anyone who has ever run a business, you know how important clean and clear financial records are.

Sara has done this work for free, or at a ridiculously low cost to the organization – given her worth and experience as a CPA. She has given up her weekends with her family for Youthlinc financials, and worked nights after her kids are asleep. She is truly a Youthlinc unsung hero.

It’s time to show our appreciation for her in this new building. I’d like to raise $25,000 to name the Operations Manager’s office for her.

Youthlinc has grown steadily for 20 years, widening and deepening our impact in the community. And there is so much more to do. 

We've relied on donated office space till just a few years ago. With all our programs, participants, and staff we have reached a place at our 20th anniversary where we need a home of our own - a place that belongs to the thousands of Utah families and young people we've impacted, and a place dedicated to the thousands of lives we will touch in the future. 

We are asking our Youthlinc family-all of our program donors, Service Year mentors, alum parents and students who have long recognized Youthlinc's role in creating lifetime humanitarians - and those who are now recognizing our impact in this state - to dig deep and partner with us in this efforts.
